what I read this month: July 2017!

This month was a big belly flop for books... sure I read a few really great ones, but I didn't get in NEAR the amount of summer reading that I had hoped to. I hate when that happens!  I finally snagged myself a Kindle Paperwhite and it's been the absolute BEST purchase.  I rent ebooks from the library and read until my hearts content in the dark, at the beach or it's super easy to slip in my purse for while I am waiting in the car for kids sports, etc. I've owned it almost a month and I've only charged it one time - so that's way better than reading on a Kindle app on your phone/ipad - hands down. This month I read mostly contemporary fiction and while these were three really great reads, I easily get burnt out on this genre so I need to remember to mix it up a little better in the future.  Although, when a library book comes in from a waitlist you just have to read it. So it really couldn't be helped this month. Without further... this is what I read this ...

Yes, the Nordstrom Sale is STILL rocking out and just when you think there can't possibly be one more thread of clothing or shoes left still in stock, well, there is!  Today I am popping in quick to share a few fall must-haves for your closet. You all know I depend heavily on the basics to build my wardrobe and these pieces are perfect for that.  Plus, they are virtually season-less so buy them now, wear them a ton for seasons and years to come! classic black tote  - SO beautiful and it will be a bag to own and use for many years to come! wool camel coat  - I bought a similar coat almost 5 years ago and still wear it and get compliments! stripe tee  - you can never have enough great layering tees in your closet and this one is available in lots of colors for under $20!  riding boots  - I got a similar pair almost 3 years ago and still wear them and love them! high waisted skinny jeans  - these jeans are super flattering and comfortable because they are so stretchy! faux leather mot...

my EASY beauty routine!

While I am no pro at all things beauty, the entire topic has been top of mind lately.  I'm no spring chicken and I also don't have all the time in the world to look great.  A lot of days I go without makeup, but when I do actually put some effort into my face this is my easy everyday makeup routine. A lot of people have asked on Instagram stories so I thought it would be fun to lay it all out here. I am the biggest dummy with makeup. I have no idea how to contour, I don't know how to do eyeshadow except to swipe it across my eyelid, and while I sometimes do some highlighting... I'm usually too lazy.  Even this eyeliner I only do when I'm feeling snazzy or have somewhere besides the grocery store to be (and even then not always). Not always in this order, but these are my daily beauty steps... I start with this BB Cream from Andalou , it's easy to use and gives a great glowy look with light to medium coverage and a good SPF. Items at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale sold out at record pace this year! Whew! If there were items you had your eye on - they are doing some restocks here and there. my everyday style: two ways to style leather-look leggings for fall!

I love anything that fits both categories of comfortable and stylish. So when I heard all the other bloggers chatting up these leather-look legging s I knew I had to give them a try myself.  And those ladies were right - these leggings are thick enough for everyday wear, super slimming and crazy comfortable.  AND they are on sale right now.  Triple/quadruple threat! Today I thought I would pull together two easy fall-inspired looks featuring these leggings to show how easy it is to dress them up or down for whatever your style may be.  Here I dressed them down with a cozy pullover poncho and sneakers .  This is the perfect look for weekend errands or football games and other fall adventures outdoors.  Then I dressed them up a bit with a fun open back sweater and some mules for a perfect date night or girls night out look when the weather cools down.
