what I read this month... June 2016!

Image
I'm a broken record, I know it... but June just FLEW by!  I can't believe how quickly it went.  The good news is that I did a TON of reading this month (9 books!?!? That must be a personal record!).  Hello reading by the pool! The even better news is that I read some AMAZING books that I just can't wait to tell you about... without further ado, this is what I read this month...   A Certain Age ... A love triangle set in the Jazz age in New York City has all the makings for the perfect beach read - and it doesn't disappoint.  I love every book by this author (my favorite is Along the Infinite Sea ) who uses the same family lines in her books over and over again and writes with a certain bubbliness that keeps you coming back for more.  I'll See You in Paris ... This book is loosely based on the real life of Gladys Spencer-Churchill the Duchess of Marlborough and I am a sucker for a good historical fiction novel set upon some truth.  The characters were easy to love, t...

Well June just FLEW by... I mean seriously!  Any one else have some seasonal whiplash here? I thought the summer was just starting and now it feels half over. Which is a good reminder to be soaking it up as much as possible I suppose.  We had a beautiful month weather-wise but some of the cooler days made my outfits seem more spring-like than summer-like, which you can see here.  So June was all about lightweight layers.  I had a blast rounding up these Instagram looks today... it was a GOOD month!  Make sure you follow along on Instagram to see all my looks there and follow along with my silly/snarky/borderline boring "stories" there! This gingham top is SO cute and fun, you can see me wearing it  here .  Shop the pieces: top , shorts , fun iPhone case , earrings This is what I consider the perfect soccer-mom look... we are always on the go for soccer in the summer and this sweatshirt is perfect for chilly mornings! Shop the pieces: sweatshirt , jeans , sunglasses , sanda...

time to get patriotic!

I don't know why, but I always find such a thrill out of dressing patriotic this time of year, I'm sure I've mentioned it before. I know it's cheesy and predictable, but I don't even care!  It's so fun!  Today I rounded up some SUPER fun patriotic pieces today that you are sure to love and have fun rocking them for the holiday and beyond this summer! stars & stripes tee ,  red tassel earrings ,  blue ball drop earrings ,  stars/stripes sleeve sweatshirt ,  star print jeans  - in love! ,  star espadrille sneakers  - obsessed! ,  red/white striped v-neck tee ,  striped terry dress ,  red tote ,  striped tie-back tank ,  red t-shirt with star print ,  vineyard vines stars/stripes pullover ,  star bandana scarf JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. my everyday style: the good 'ole U S of A!

What is more fun than dressing in head to toe red, white and blue this time of year!?!? (besides dressing your kids in head to toe red, white and blue?) NOTHING.  I adore it.  And let's be honest... when you are dressing with a certain color scheme it's pretty easy to walk into your closet, grab a few things and call it good.  It also doesn't hurt that no matter how you mix and match red, white and blue you really can't go wrong. Right off the bat I have to tell you that I am SO SAD that this top is sold out, because it's honestly the best.  And for the life of me I could only find blue stripes or red stripes .  Not both (cue the dramatic tears).  BUT the good news is that this adorable USA sweatshirt is still available... it's actually a MENS!  I ordered an XS, but I definitely could have gone with a SMALL for a roomier fit.  You can bet I will be wearing this for the fireworks this year!  And speaking of winners, this denim skirt is the perfect go-to for s...
